The MacPherson family have reared top quality cattle for generations. Well Hung & Tender was formed back in 2001 when we decided to sell our produce direct to the consumer. Our first farmers’ market was a huge success and we haven’t looked back since.

We believe customers want to know where and how their meat is produced. At Well Hung & Tender, we only sell grass-fed beef, reared under our own strict welfare conditions. Aberdeen Angus cattle are acknowledged worldwide for producing tender, flavoursome, juicy beef with superb marbling characteristics. Our stock is grass (not grain) fed out in our fields, which results in high levels of Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids and even more flavour.

High animal welfare

Aberdeen Angus are perfectly suited to the border country where they tend to stay healthy, however we’ve also adopted natural

homeopathic remedies to treat our stock. Angus cattle are naturally calm, gentle beasts, Well Hung and Tender produce prime Scottish beef, award-winning steak, topside, silverside and other cuts with exceptional flavour, using a unique blend of traditional and modern methods.although we still keep stress levels as low as possible to ensure the meat is tender and retains vitamins, minerals and amino acids – the building blocks of protein. Hanging meat on the bone for a minimum of four weeks also contributes to maximum tenderisation.
